Van Osta schrijft in zijn uitvoerige bijdrage 'over wezen en betekenis van de eigennaam' dat 'een eigennaam-theorie zonder definitie van het object (...) inadequaat' is en dat het uitesrst belangrijk is 'dat men een klaar inzicht zou krijgen in het wezen van het proprium (EN) en zijn verhouding tot het appelativum (SN). Daarmee neemt de auteur een positie in die in het huidige denkklimaat geenszins gebruikelijk is. Personal Name and Reflection W. Van Osta writes in his elaborate contribution 'on the being and meaning of the personal name' that 'a personal name theory without definition of the object is inadequate' and that it is important 'that one would obtain a clear insight in the being of the proprium and its relation to the appelativum. Writing this he takes a rather unusual position in the current thinking. |
