Abstract :

Typology of Family Names in the Netherlands
I chose as title for this contribution the formulation of the organising committee of the symposium for my subject, although it doesn't really cover the contents. What comes next is largely a description of the interventions and discussions on such a typology. A second remark I should give here is that I sometimes write about family names, sometimes on nicknames or last names. The latter two are historical phases of the first denomination.
