Although the tasks and intentions of Jaspers' philosophy go beyond whatever might normally be construed as the tasks and intentions of interreligious dialogue, a close reading of some of Jaspers' texts could reveal strands in his thinking that very well reflect some of the concerns of interfaith dialogue. The author traces some obvious motifs of interfaith dialogue implicit in Jaspers, and argues that his conception of philosophy in some of its genuine intentions could be seen as providing a theoretical framework for situating the possibility, or indeed the necessity, of interfaith dialogue. |
