Subtitle: Sur quelques problèmes de cote dans la série des manuscrits syriaques de Sainte-Catherine Author(s): GÉHIN, Paul Journal: Le Muséon Volume: 129 Issue: 1-2 Date: 2016 Pages: 117-131 DOI: 10.2143/MUS.129.1.3154607 Abstract : This article resolves some problems regarding shelf marks of Syriac manuscripts from Saint Catherine Monastery at Mount Sinai (n° 33, 38 and 58, 29 and 31 from the Lewis’ Catalogue). It argues that the current Sinai syr. 29 (6 ff.) is a miscellaneous codex which was made up after 1950 with the last folio of Sinai syr. 31 and five folios that belonged to Sinai syr. 59. The main part of the article is devoted to the presentation and detailed analysis of Sinai syr. 31, supplemented by membra disiecta kept in Milan, Oslo, and Birmingham. Copied in the 8th century in a monastery near Mardin, the manuscript has an unusual selection of ascetic and monastic texts of spiritual interest. In its mutilated form, it preserves 16 different texts, some of them rare and unedited. |
