Document Details : Title: The Teaching Authority of Episcopal Conferences Reconsidered in Light of the Renewal Initiated by Pope Francis Author(s): DUFFY, Eugene Journal: ET-Studies Volume: 8 Issue: 2 Date: 2017 Pages: 289-308 DOI: 10.2143/ETS.8.2.3245456 Abstract : Pope Francis, especially in his Apostolic Exhortation, Evangelii gaudium, has called for a renewal of ecclesial structures and has acknowledged that both the juridical status and the doctrinal authority of episcopal conferences still need further clarification. Here, a brief survey of the emergence of these conferences is outlined in order to give context to the invitation issued by the Pope, especially the difficulties posed by Apostolos suos. Some key aspects of Francis’s ecclesiology and practice are identified that hold out fresh possibilities for both the Pope and episcopal conferences to respond to the call for renewal that he has issued with regard to the conferences. Papst Franziskus hat, besonders in seinem Apostolischen Schreiben Evangelii Gaudium, zu einer Erneuerung kirchlicher Strukturen aufgerufen und erkannt, dass sowohl der juristische Status wie auch die Lehrautorität der Bischofskonferenzen immer noch einer weiteren Klärung bedürfen. Im Text wird ein kurzer Überblick über die Entstehung dieser Konferenzen zur Kontextualisierung der Aufforderung des Papstes gegeben, insbesondere über die Schwierigkeiten, die sich durch Apostolos suos stellen. Einige Schlüsselaspekte der Ekklesiologie und Praxis Franziskus' werden identifiziert, die neue Möglichkeiten sowohl für den Papst wie auch die Bischofskonferenzen ergeben, um auf den Aufruf der Erneuerung in Bezug auf diese Konferenzen zu antworten. Dans son exhortation apostolique Evangelii gaudium, le pape François a particulièrement appelé à un renouveau des structures ecclésiales et a reconnu que le statut juridique et l’autorité doctrinale des conférences épiscopales devaient être encore clarifiées. Pour situer le contexte de l’invitation du pape, un bref aperçu de l’origine de ces conférences est exposé ici, en particulier, les difficultés posées par Apostolos suos. Sont ensuite identifiés quelques aspects majeurs de l’ecclésiologie et de la pratique de François, qui offrent, tant au pape qu’aux conférences épiscopales, de nouvelles possibilités pour répondren à l’appel au renouvellement lancé aux conférences. |
