Abstract :
I Chr 1,11).

I Chr 1,11).

The article offers an new solution for the etymological derivation of נַפְתֻּחִים in Gen 10,13 (Par. I Chr 1,11). It is argued that this is the hebrew rendering of the egyptian denomination n3 pr t3ḥ(.w) 'The administrative units (houses) of the inhabitants of the Delta'. The term ‘administrative units’ is likely to refer to the period of the 25th dynasty, a time of political fragmentation in Lower Egypt.
