In this article I have categorized the multifaceted textual tradition of this small text according to the different genres in which it occurs. This case of the striking success of the Tres veritates makes clear that devotional texts in Late medieval literature tend to get used, recycled and reused in many shapes and forms, both in manuscript and print. Even though the author is mentioned in many manifestations of this text, there are plenty of anonymous versions to show that the prayerlike text could well survive on its own. |
