Een jaar na de erkenning gaf zij de opdracht een lijst van Limburgs(talig)e plaatsnamen op te stellen. Het doel was om de Limburgse uitspraak en schrijfwijze van de toponiemen officieel vast te leggen, zodat provinciale en gemeentelijke overheden de Limburgstalige namen -naast de Nederlandstalige- kunnen gebruiken. Als onderzoeker en samensteller van deze haast 400 toponiemen tellende lijst schets ik in dit artikel haar onstaansgeschiedenis. Unity in Diversity, The Lies van Limburgse plaats- en gemeintenamen in 't Limburgs In 1996 the Dutch province of Limburg requested the recognition of the Limburgian dialects as a minority language. One year after this recognition the province requested the making of a list of Limburgian toponymics. The aim of this list was to registrate the Limburgia pronunciation and orthography of the toponymics officially, so the provincial and city councils could use these Limburgian names -next to the Dutch ones. In this article I, as researcher and contributor to this list of almost 400 toponymics, describe her creation. |
