Although the German Fr. Wilhelm Hentrich SJ became Pope Pius Xll’s private librarian in 1942, was made qualificator of the Sanctum Officium in 1944, and also became consultor of the Congregation in 1955, until now there has been almost no information available about him. His newly discovered private papers and his handwritten diaries may offer some small insights into his career, the 'cases' he was working on in the Sanctum Officium, and his relationship with Pope Pius XII. His diaries also offer insights into some inner-church conflicts and tensions. Annoncée pour mars 2020, l’ouverture des dossiers du Vatican à partir du pontificat de Pie XII a inévitablement mis l’entourage allemand de l’ancien pontife au centre de l’intérêt. Bien que le père allemand Wilhelm Hentrich SJ soit devenu le bibliothécaire privé du pape Pie XII en 1942, qu’il ait été nommé qualificateur du Saint Office en 1944 et qu’il soit également devenu consulteur de la Congrégation en 1955, il n’existait, jusqu’à présent, pratiquement aucune information à son sujet. Ses papiers privés, récemment découverts, et ses journaux intimes, manuscrits, peuvent donner un aperçu de sa carrière, des «affaires» sur lesquelles il travaillait au Sant Office et de sa relation avec le pape Pie XII. Ses journaux intimes donnent également un aperçu de certains conflits et tensions internes à l’Église. Mit der für März 2020 angekündigten Öffnung der vatikanischen Aktenbestände aus dem Pontifikat Piusʼ XII. rückte unweigerlich auch Piusʼ deutsche Entourage in den Mittelpunkt. Obwohl P. Wilhelm Hentrich SJ 1942 Privatbibliothekar des Papstes, 1944 Qualifikator im Heiligen Offizium und 1955 Konsultor der Kongregation wurde, gab es bislang kaum nähere Informationen über diesen Jesuiten. Sein jetzt erstmals ausgewerteter privater Nachlass, der u.a. zahlreiche handschriftliche Tagebücher umfasst, bietet erste Einblicke in seinen Werdegang, die 'Fälle', die er im Hl. Offizium bearbeitete, und sein persönliches Verhältnis zu Papst Pius XII. Seine Tagebücher bieten damit zugleich Einblicke in einige innerkirchliche Konflikte und Spannungen. |
