Like Catherine of Siena, OP, Dominican women speak truth to power. Immigrants to the United States from Germany and France, Dominican women for decades have assumed leadership positions in such areas as education, politics, economics, health care, and ecology. They work untiringly to dismantle and transform unjust structures, systems, and attitudes to create a more just church and world. With little or no formal training in business and finance, many women founded and built many high schools, colleges, and universities that continue to thrive today. This essay offers a brief understanding of 'leadership' as it relates to women in the Order of Preachers. Next, the essay presents a brief history of the life and movement of the Dominican women pioneers who came to 'the new world'. Their courageous spirit and exercise of leadership continue to inspire and ground Dominican women leaders today. The essay then showcases some of the work being accomplished by United States Dominican women leaders, most notably throughout the twentieth century and into this twenty-first century. Lastly, the essay considers the present and future challenges facing Dominican women today. These challenges need to be addressed creatively and substantively if the innovative, creative, intellectual, progressive, and practical aspect of the Dominican charism is to continue long into the future. Seit dem zwölften Jahrhundert übernahmen Frauen im Predigerorden (Dominikaner) bedeutende Leitungspositionen in der Katholischen Kirche und in der Welt. Wie Katharina von Siena OP sprechen Dominikanerinnen offen zu Machthabern. Als Immigrantinnen in die Vereinigten Staaten aus Deutschland und Frankreich haben Dominikanerinnen seit Jahrzehnten Leitungspositionen in Bereichen wie Bildung, Politik, Wirtschaft, Gesundheitswesen und Ökologie übernommen. Unermüdlich arbeiten sie, um ungerechte Strukturen, Systeme und Haltungen abzubauen und zu verändern, um eine gerechtere Kirche und Welt zu schaffen. Mit wenig oder keiner formalen Ausbildung im Bereich Unternehmensführung und Finanzen gründeten viele Frauen Highschools, Colleges und Universitäten, die sie aufbauten und die bis heute weiter gedeihen. Dieser Aufsatz bietet eine kurze Erklärung von 'Leitung', insofern sie die Frauen im Dominikanerorden betrifft. Dann präsentiert der Beitrag eine kurze Geschichte des Lebens und der Bewegung der dominikanischen Pionierinnen, die in die 'neue Welt' kamen. Ihr mutiger Geist und ihre Ausübung von Leitung inspirieren und bereiten weiterhin den Boden für leitende Dominikanerinnen heute. Der Aufsatz zeigt sodann einiges von der Arbeit, die leitende Dominikanerinnen in den Vereinigten Staaten durchgeführt haben, besonders während des 20. und bis ins 21. Jahrhundert. Zuletzt bedenkt der Aufsatz gegenwärtige und zukünftige Herausforderungen, mit denen Dominikanerinnen heute konfrontiert sind. Diese Herausforderungen müssen kreativ und substantiell angesprochen werden, wenn der innovative, kreative, intellektuelle, progressive und praktische Aspekt des dominikanischen Charismas weit in die Zukunft weiterbestehen soll. Inmigrantes en los Estados Unidos procedentes de Alemania y Francia, las mujeres dominicas llevan décadas asumiendo posiciones de liderazgo en areas como la educación, la política, la economía, la salud y la ecología. Trabajan de forma incansable para desmantelar y transformar estructuras, sistemas y actitudes injustas para crear una Iglesia y un mundo más justos. Con poco o nada de educación formal en negocios y finanzas, muchas mujeres han fundado y construídos varios institutos, facultades y universidades que continúan prosperando a día de hoy. Este ensayo ofrece una breve comprensión del 'liderazgo' tal y como este se relaciona con las mujeres de la Orden de los Predicadores. A continuación, el ensayo presenta una breve historia de la vida y el movimiento de las dominicas pioneras que vinieron al 'Nuevo Mundo'. Su valiente espíritu y su ejercicio del liderazgo continúan inspirando y fundamentando a las líderes dominicas de hoy en día.
