Yale II, 107 and Philo’s In Flaccum 74-76 y 80. For this purpose, we will try to trace the term gerousia and the vocabulary related to the council in the aforementioned Greek papyrus and in the Philonic treatise, in order to examine the data about its presence in Roman Alexandria. The joint reading of P. Yale II, 107 and Philo’s passages, in addition to their historical and social contextualization and their communication with other contemporaneous sources about the events that they point out, will also allow us to discuss the framework of technical terms, names of places and political figures, that provide information about the ethnic identity of the gerousia and its situation during years 37 and 38. Le but de cet article est de démontrer l’existence de la gerousia juive dans l’Alexandrie romaine au cours des premières décennies du Ier siècle de notre ère, à partir de deux sources: le papyrus grec P. Yale II, 107 et le témoignage de Philon dans In Flaccum 74-76, 80. Nous nous intéresserons tout particulièrement à l’usage que font ces deux sources du mot gerousia et du vocabulaire lié au conseil. La lecture conjointe de P. Yale II, 107 et du traité de Philon, leur contextualisation historique et sociale ainsi que le rapport qu’ils entretiennent avec d’autres sources contemporaines des faits qu’ils signalent, nous permettront de mettre en évidence un réseau de termes techniques, de noms de lieux et de figures politiques, qui nous renseignent sur l’identité ethnique de la gerousia et sa situation pendant les années 37 et 38. |
