Document Details : Title: 'De muziek is helder en klaar' Subtitle: Tussen autonomie en heteronomie in het gedicht 'wintersonate (zonder piano en altviool)' van Ramsey Nasr Author(s): DE STRYCKER, Carl Journal: Spiegel der Letteren Volume: 58 Issue: 1 Date: 2016 Pages: 83-106 DOI: 10.2143/SDL.58.1.3157070 Abstract : This article discusses Ramsey Nasr’s poem ‘wintersonate (zonder piano en altviool)’, which seems to be the transposition into poetry of Dmitri Shostakovich’s Viola Sonata op. 147. This specific intermedial relationship triggers a number of questions, first of all on the theoretical and methodological level. First, the theory of intermediality as presented by Irina O. R ajewsky is critically approached. Next, the intermedial approach is demonstrated in a reading of the poem. In this reading the question about referentiality and autonomy is discussed and linked to the discussions about this problem in relationship to music in general and that of Shostakovich in particular. Nasr’s poem proves to be a reflection on these discussions. |
