Abstract :
In Blood and Roses: History of Dutch Literature 1900-1945, Jacqueline Bel offers a new survey of literature in the Netherlands and Flanders during the first half of the twentieth century. This essay critically reviews the book’s methodological foundations and its treatment of literary currents, genres, authors, and texts. The conclusion relates Blood and Roses to broader debates on literary historiography and knowledge dissemination.
