Au contraire, elle semble avoir glissé à la marge de ce qui se passe dans ces trois domaines. Dans cet article, l’auteur soutient la thèse que la théologie ne peut bien remplir sa tâche aujourd’hui que si elle refuse de s’opposer à cette marginalisation et accepte de la subir sciemment et volontairement. La théologie retrouvera sa crédibilité et sa pertinence à partir du moment où elle prendra intentionnellement sa juste place en partant de la marge, au carrefour de l’université, de l’Église et de la société. Dans la première partie, l’auteur expose le changement de la position de la théologie à l’université, dans l’Église et dans la société, et il développe sa thèse que la théologie d’aujourd’hui devrait retrouver sa place à partir de la marge et au carrefour de ces domaines. Dans la deuxième, il montre comment – dans une reprise nouvelle de l’adage traditionnel philosophia ancilla theologiae – la théologie peut être aidée dans cette démarche par un dialogue critico-productif avec les philosophies contemporaines de la différence. Dans la troisième partie, il illustre comment la théologie, précisément à partir de cette différence, à la marge et au carrefour, peut dans chacun des domaines mentionnés, «faire la différence». Theology no longer seems to have a self-evident role in the domains in which it has belonged from of old: the university, the Church, and society. On the contrary, it appears to have shifted to the margin of what happens in all three of them. In this contribution the author argues that theology can only fulfill its task well today if it refuses to fly away from this marginalization, but undergoes this knowingly and willingly. Theology will regain its credibility and relevance when it consciously takes its place starting precisely from the margins at the crossroads of university, Church, and society. In the first part the author discusses the changed position of theology in the university, Church, and society, and develops his thesis that theology today should recover its place from the margins and at the crossroads of these domains. In the second part he shows how – in a renewed retrieval of the traditional adage philosophia ancilla theologiae – theology can be assisted in doing so by a critical-productive dialogue with contemporary philosophies of difference. In the third part he illustrates how theology, precisely from this difference, can ‘make a difference’ in each of the abovementioned domains, in the margins and at the crossroads. |
