Document Details : Title: Christian Approaches to Interreligious Dialogue Author(s): GILIS, Chester Journal: Louvain Studies Volume: 22 Issue: 1 Date: spring 1997 Pages: 15-38 DOI: 10.2143/LS.22.1.542290 Abstract : In recent decades a number of methods have been formulated to address issues associated with Christian theology of religions, that attempt to articulate an understanding of other religions while maintaining the integrity of Christian claims. This article focuses specifically on the methodologies and theologies implicit in interreligious dialogue. I do not intend to resolve the problems involved in interreligious dialogue, for numerous and complex as they are, they do not lend themselves to quick solution. I hope to clarify the discussion of dialogue, the methods used in dialogue, and the implicit and explicit theologies that inform the dialogue process. These methods and theologies suggest emergent typologies. |
