I reach this conclusion by introducing at first Husserl’s notion of 'crisis' of sciences to show how it relates to formal mathematics and intuition. Then, I claim that Frege’s conception of symbolic language exemplifies what Husserl calls 'objectivism', which he takes to be one of the main aspects of the crisis. The emergence of Russell’s antinomy can be finally interpreted as the setback of such objectivism and thus as the occasion to consider anew the epistemological import of mathematical intuition for formal sciences. |
