This kohen, who has both a male reproductive organ and a female one, can be sexually active both as a man and as a woman. The halakhic case is analysed in light of the rabbinic perception of sexual intercourse. The textual evidence for the androgynous case has been chosen diachronically from early rabbinic literature to the sixth-century work, Ma‘asim li-bnei Eretz Israel, composed in the Land of Israel. We also aim to explore the gender politics and strategies motivating the different usages of the term androgynous and show the dynamics of its development from the third to the sixth centuries. Cet article se propose d’examiner la métamorphose du cas halakhique d’un kohen (un prêtre) androgyne, ou, en termes modernes, d’une personne intersexuée. Ce kohen, qui possède à la fois des organes reproducteurs mâle et femelle, peut avoir une activité sexuelle aussi bien en tant qu’homme qu’en tant que femme. Le cas halakhique est analysé à la lumière de la perception rabbinique des rapports sexuels. Les textes qui l’évoquent, tous issus de la terre d’Israël, ont été abordés de manière diachronique, des sources rabbiniques les plus anciennes jusqu’à l’ouvrage du VIe siècle, Ma‘asim li-bnei Eretz Israel. Nous explorerons également les politiques et stratégies de genre ayant motivé les différents usages du terme «androgyne», et nous mettrons en évidence la dynamique de son développement du IIIe au VIe siècle. |
