Document Details : Title: The Literary Structure and Meaning of Psalm 84 MT Author(s): BARBIERO, Gianni Journal: Biblica Volume: 103 Issue: 4 Date: 2022 Pages: 499-524 DOI: 10.2143/BIB.103.4.3291465 Abstract : In response to the present confusion in the structural study of Psalm 84, the article explains that this is a result of the lack of faithfulness to the MT. The Hebrew text of Psalm 84 is composed of three stanzas (vv. 2-5.6-8.9-13), of six, three, and six verselines each, respectively. The three stanzas reflect the stages of a pilgrimage to Zion: from the desire for the temple (I), to the journey across the desert (II), to the prayer raised on the arrival in Zion (III). Considering vv. 9-10 as an integral part of the psalm, the article proposes to identify 'your anointed' (v. 10b) with the worshipper and his people. |
