Document Details : Title: «Jeux de mains, jeux de vilains», de l'intuition pure en mathématiques Author(s): VERNANT, Denis Journal: Logique et Analyse Volume: 249 Date: 2020 Pages: 171-183 DOI: 10.2143/LEA.249.0.3288094 Abstract : In modern times, Kant argued that scientific knowledge, especially mathematical knowledge, was based on a priori synthetic judgments using the pure intuition of space and time. We will show that all the proofs he gives of them are obsolete and that the mathematicians resort to purely logical demonstrations. However, this does not mean that intuition plays no initial role in the constitution of formal systems. |
