Document Details : Title: Verb Stem Tone Patterns in Dawida (E74a) Author(s): PHILIPPSON, Gérard Journal: Africana Linguistica Volume: 20 Date: 2014 Pages: 349-365 DOI: 10.2143/AL.20.0.3062077 Abstract : Dawida dialects have tone systems based on the shifting of H tones by one syllable to the right. Furthermore, when several underlying H syllables succeed each other immediately, only the last one is realized. Main tenses have their basic tone and Melodic H tone patterns consist mostly of a pattern where all post-radical syllables become underlyingly H; other patterns are very marginal. |
