Based upon second-hand sources, as well as field data collected at the beginning of the 21st century, the author recounts the changes that have occured in the Mongolian feast practice and she concludes that if today the great princely feasts do not exist anymore, a Mongolian concept of sharing food is still a topical notion. Far beyond the social importance given by the households of the sharing food it seems that the sharing food reflects political and religious powers in place. |
