Document Details : Title: Kulturkampf ade! Wir schreiben selbst die vorgängige Pflichtzivilehe vor! Subtitle: Die Reaktion der deutschen Bischofskonferenz auf die aktuelle Reform des deutschen Personenstandsgesetzes Author(s): DEMEL, Sabine Journal: Marriage, Families & Spirituality Volume: 14 Issue: 2 Date: 2008 Pages: 251-255 DOI: 10.2143/INT.14.2.2034411 Abstract : In Germany marriage has been controlled by the state for over a century, with religious ceremonies optional. Following a new law recently voted in the German parliament, couples will soon be able to get married in church without first going through a civil ceremony in the registry. The new rules were announced with several other changes to the Personenstandsrecht, or law of civil status, and take effect starting in January 2009. Prof. Sabine Demel who teaches canon law at the Theology Faculty of the Unversity of Regensburg, presents the new legislation and comments on its implications. |
