In liturgy, the Church speaks – in word, song, symbol, and act – of the nature of the human relationship to God. Thus writers such as Salvatore Marsili and Aiden Kavanaugh have called liturgy the most primordial theology, theologia prima. The question of the relationship between the Church’s worship and the Church’s theology has been explored from several different angles since the beginning of the 20th century. Various different proposals have been advanced as to the relationship between theology and liturgy. |
