Document Details : Title: Notes on the Historical Position of Friulian Author(s): GOLDBERG, John R. Journal: Orbis Volume: 34 Date: 1985-1987 Pages: 160-166 DOI: 10.2143/ORB.34.0.2013014 Abstract : The term Rhaeto-Romance, along with a classification of languages involved, particularly Friulian, has long been a source of confusion. This paper is an attempt to lessen the confusion. Forst most people, the term Rhaeto-Romance, or one of its variant forms refers only to that minor Romance language that is spoken somewhere in the mountainous area of Switzerland. It is now universally accepted among Romance linguists that the term Rhaeto-Romance does not refer to a single language, but rather to a group of languages and dialects. |
