Orbis
International Journal of General Linguistics and Linguistic Documentation
Bulletin international de linguistique générale et de documentation linguistique

Orbis, the oldest linguistic journal published in Belgium, is the official organ of the International Centre of General Dialectology, founded in 1952 by Sever Pop. Since its inception the journal has served as a forum for scholarly discussion and information exchange on all aspects of the language sciences.
Apart from its focus on dialect study, the journal regularly publishes articles on problems of general and theoretical linguistics, on language typology, on historical and comparative linguistics, and on the sociocultural study of languages.
In addition the journal focuses on the history of linguistics and on bibliographical documentation concerning linguistic journals sent to the Editorial Board. The contributions published in Orbis are in one of the major Germanic or Roman languages: English, German, French, Italian, and Spanish.

Orbis is abstracted and indexed in International Bibliography of Periodical Literature on the Humanities and Social Sciences / IBZ online; Bibliographie linguistique / Linguistic Bibliography; CrossRef.

Orbis is a peer-reviewed journal.
