Document Details : Title: Linguistics as an Instrument of Pre-History Subtitle: The Home of Proto-Asiatic Author(s): FELLMAN, Jack Journal: Orbis Volume: 36 Date: 1991-1993 Pages: 56-58 DOI: 10.2143/ORB.36.0.2012798 Abstract : It is an accepted principle in anthropological circles that linguistics can be used as a tool in elucidating aspects of pre-history which might otherwise be difficult or even impossible to retrieve or reconstruct. In Fellman (1978) we posited a cultural-linguistic area which we termed Afro-Asia. The pre-history of this area is virtually unknown. As the title of this brief article indicates, we wish here to understand one aspect of Afro-Asia's pre-history by using linguistic criteria. |
