Document Details : Title: Geschiedenis van de taalkunde van het Nederlands, circa 1650-1804 Author(s): RUTTEN, Gijsbert Journal: Spiegel der Letteren Volume: 46 Issue: 3-4 Date: 2004 Pages: 433-449 DOI: 10.2143/SDL.46.3.2004789 Abstract : The history of Dutch linguistics from the ‘long’ eighteenth century has yielded many case studies, especially with regard to the period from around 1650 to around 1740. Still, integrative studies and social-cultural contextualization remain scarce. Also, more research has to be done into foreign language materials (grammars, dictionaries) and the developments in the Southern Netherlands. The second half of the eighteenth century, with its numerous periodicals and societies and the beginnings of academic Dutch studies, deserves more attention in every respect. |
