Document Details : Title: Over pachters en parkieten Subtitle: Politieke literatuur en de vorming van de publieke opinie in het Zuiden Author(s): VAN DEN BOSSCHE, Geert Journal: Spiegel der Letteren Volume: 46 Issue: 3-4 Date: 2004 Pages: 405-414 DOI: 10.2143/SDL.46.3.2004787 Abstract : We know very little about eighteenth-century political literature in the South: there is still no comprehensive bibliography, and the lack of linguistic studies and of textual editions is striking. The common ‘emancipatory’ approach (‘Flemish’ versus French language literature) must be abandoned in favour of a concern with the functioning of literature in processes of communication and pedagogy. The formation of public opinion in particular offers a promising focal point for an integrative study of the communication and reception system in the South. Only if it proceeds on a truly interdisciplinary basis, however, can such a study ‘enlighten’ this undeservedly neglected part of the eighteenth century. |
