One of these centralisation acts was taking control over the schools by laws and other means. This happened in the overall evolution of implementing rules by force in the Late Antique. This is the classical view on schools in Late Antiquity. The author opposes to this view and states that Late Antique education was the result of a long Roman political tradition to give most of the responsibility to the cities organising this education. |
