Abstract :
The author investigates the relationship between political power, religion and existence as a women. She first asks fundamental questions about “female” ways of ruling, turning then to Anna of Hesse (1485-1525) as an example. On the basis of this female ruler of the sixteenth century, she shows how theological arguments were used both to justify the rule of women and to disqualify them from doing so.
