The Ottoman Documents of the Kaïreios Library of Andros (Greece) This short note presents a preliminary investigation of 406 Ottoman documents, which have been located in the Aegean island of Andros. The documents were mostly preserved in the archives of the monasteries of the island. They constitute an important source for the study of the island society and the local administration, especially the kad?’s court and the tax collection, during the period of Ottoman rule (1579-1821). |
