Abstract :
When the National Conference of Catholic Bishops approved the new edition of guidelines for clinical practice in Catholic health-care, the Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Health Care Services, at its 1994 Fall meeting in Washington, DC, a significant change was made in the directives dealing with ectopic pregnancies - those situations in which an embryo implants outside the uterus, placing the woman at risk for life-threatening hemorrhage - when compared to 1954 and 1971 guidelines.
