This year the focal point of the festivities was the new Rector of the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven: Prof. Dr. Oosterlinck. Professor André Oosterlinck comes to his new position of Rector of the K.U. Leuven with a background in the applied sciences with a specialization in electronic information technology. He completed his doctorate in Leuven in 1977 and a special doctorate in 1981. In the course of his academic career he has done specialized research in Pasadena, California and has been a visiting professor at Utah University as well as at ARC-IBM in San Jose, California. Most recently at the K.U. Leuven, under the rectorship of his predecessor Prof. Dr. Roger Dillemans, he was Chairperson for the Applied Sciences. |
