Abstract :

Heidegger replaced subjectivity by the Self. Thereby he found the unknown ground of the traditional tasks which are attributed to the subject. The Self is a post-metaphysical answer to the classical problem of the personal identity. I can be myself insofar I constitute my time as oriented to my death and consequently as mine. However the problem still remains: how can I be myself? The paper asks if, beyond metaphysics, the problem of subjectivity ought not to be raised independently of the identity-question. Is not being a subject something else as being oneself (the Self)? And does not a subjectivity that is neither a logical subject, nor a Self, show other properties, thereof a phenomenology without presuppositions ought not to be unaware?
