The Life of Kostanti-Kaxay, composed in the ninth or tenth century and extant in manuscripts of the eighteenth century and later, traces the life of this Georgian saint from his birth during the reign of the Byzantine emperor Michael III, to his amassing of considerable wealth, his public confession of Christianity, and ultimately his beheading ordered by Caliph Djafar al-Mutawakkil ’ala-llah. This article presents the first published English translation of the vita.
