The lower part of a squatting statue attributed to the beginning of Dynasty XXVI bears the last part of an inscription where the owner speaks to passers-by: after having let them know what he’s expecting from them, he tries to convince them to act accordingly by enumerating arguments, the choice and the order of which reveal a particularly elaborate strategy. |
