In a part of this episode — the trial of Florette (ll. 8945-9540) — the poet departs from his primary source and uses a hitherto unacknowledged secondary source, Arturs doet (translation of the Old French La Mort le roi Artu). This article shows how the poet adapted his sources with reference to contemporary juridical discourse, and how this adaptation serves to further underpin previous attempts at interpretation of the text. |
