Abstract :
Family spirituality has its own chapter in Amoris laetitia (313-325), but there has been little discussion of its contents. Therefore, after an introduction, AL’s treatment of family spirituality is discussed and placed within the overall context of the document. Then, the state of the research on family spirituality and religiosity in religious education is presented, showing the gaps and inconsistencies there. The next section takes a systematic approach, outlining the contours of a possible spirituality of family life for today. Such a spirituality arises from the daily living together of the family. It can conceptually be divided into implicit and explicit. Thus, it can be said to be experienced as mutual bonding, security, and mutual acceptance. This basis, which is already spiritual, is also explicitly acted upon in the family both as a sense of the spiritual in everyday activities, lived out in a general religious attitude, as well as formally through praying together, attending liturgy together, reading the Bible as a family, and other expressions of popular piety. The article continues with perspectives on organizational, comprehensive education, highlighting competencies that should be learned and put into practice. The conclusion offers a summary with some proposals.
