Cet apport philosophique à la théologie porte sur l’articulation de la foi chrétienne et de la modernité marquée par une double émancipation: celle de la culture moderne par rapport à la foi et celle de la foi qui, désormais reconduite à son altérité, peine à faire valoir sa pertinence. Selon Ladrière, cette articulation est rendue possible par le rapport analogique s’établissant entre les modalités d’historicité eschatologique respectives de la foi et de la modernité. Le pivot de cette vision est la notion d’Incarnation comprise comme «historicité christique». Est ainsi esquissée une théologie de la culture qui est en même temps une théologie de la modernité, postulant qu’une affinité profonde existe entre le christianisme et la modernité, le premier conférant à la seconde le sens profond de son dynamisme créateur. This article develops Jean Ladrière’s contribution to the self-understanding of contemporary Christianism. This philosophical contribution to theology seeks to articulate faith and modernity. A double emancipation has occurred: modern culture has become autonomous and no longer needs faith as its basis. In return, faith, while retrieving its radical transcendence appears less meaningful. According to Ladrière, an analogy exists between the form of historicity proper to Christian faith and the one proper to the modern experience of the world; despite their dissimilarities, both share a similar eschatological pattern that makes possible the connection between the two. Incarnation, and its «christological historicity» appears to be the key concept supporting that vision which claims that faith gives the ultimate meaning to modernity understood as an open dynamism of creativity. In sum, Ladrière drafts a «theology of culture» and a «theology of modernity». |
