Et finalement, il éclaire par ses variantes la difficulté de donner une édition autoritative de l’ouvrage. This fragmentary manuscript of Ibn Ḫurradāḏbih’s Kitāb al-masālik wa-l-mamālik preserved in Meshhed presents a more complete version of the description of Azerbaijan as well as an original notice on the Alains. In addition, it shows how the author worked by compiling information from various, sometimes redundant or contradictory sources. And finally, it sheds light on the difficulty of giving an authoritative edition of the work through its variants. |
