Abstract :
This article pleads for the cultivation of a robust culture of interreligious dialogue to proactively prevent 'holy wars' from emerging. It shows that the call to arms for a cause declared 'holy' only instrumentalizes the commitment of dedicated believers for vested interests. In contrast, dialogue is shown to be a mutually shared struggle with contentious issues to sustain communal conviviality, notwithstanding differences. Dialogue comes into its own as interpersonal face to face encounter by establishing mutual trust through genuine understanding.
