Journal: Studies in Interreligious Dialogue Volume: 30 Issue: 1 Date: 2020 Pages: 69-80 DOI: 10.2143/SID.30.1.3288649 Abstract : This article pleads for the cultivation of a robust culture of interreligious dialogue to proactively prevent 'holy wars' from emerging. It shows that the call to arms for a cause declared 'holy' only instrumentalizes the commitment of dedicated believers for vested interests. In contrast, dialogue is shown to be a mutually shared struggle with contentious issues to sustain communal conviviality, notwithstanding differences. Dialogue comes into its own as interpersonal face to face encounter by establishing mutual trust through genuine understanding. |
