Abstract :
Edition of P.Mich. inv. 6641, a petition to the strategos of the Arsinoite nome regarding theft. In the papyrus, dated to 151 CE, a male petitioner from Tebtynis, Mieus, complains about a female thief, Taorseus, probably his former wife, and her sister, Tephersaïs. The petition likely belongs to a genre of complaints that document women practicing 'self-help' in recovering their dowry, typically using the occasion of their husband’s absence.
