Document Details : Title: Στρατηγὸς Δεκαπόλεως Author(s): SEIBT, Werner , LAFLI, Ergün Journal: Revue des Études Byzantines Volume: 78 Date: 2020 Pages: 71-76 DOI: 10.2143/REB.78.0.3288407 Abstract : In the museum of Çeşme (west of Izmir) there is a seal from the late tenth or the very beginning of the eleventh century mentioning for the first time a strategos of Dekapolis. On the obverse, it has a rare late invocative monogram with the usual tetragram, and the complete legend reads: + Κύριε βοήθει τῷ σῷ δούλῳ Ἰωάν(νῃ) β(ασιλικῷ) (πρωτο) σπαθ(αρίῳ) [(καὶ)] στρατηγ(ῷ) Δεκ[α]πόλε(ως). Au musée de Çeşme (à l’ouest d’Izmir) est conservé un sceau datable de la fin du 10e ou du tout début du 11e siècle, qui mentionne pour la première fois un stratège de Dékapolis. Au revers, il porte un rare monogramme invocatif, avec le tétragramme usuel; la légende complète est la suivante: + Κύριε βοήθει τῷ σῷ δούλῳ Ἰωάν(νῃ) β(ασιλικῷ) (πρωτο)σπαθ(αρίῳ) [(καὶ)] στρατηγ(ῷ) Δεκ[α]πόλε(ως). |
