Abstract :
This article provides a preliminary approach to the circulation of Roman terra sigillata made in Hispanic potters’ workshops linked to the ancient city of Isturgi (Los Villares de Andújar, Jaén, Spain). Reconstructing the circulation of Isturgitan terra sigillata is not devoid of difficulties due to the good quality of some products, which sometimes induced the mistaken belief that they were Gallic or even Italic imports. By focusing on sigilla and some decorations, this article paves the way to a systematic analysis of the diffusion of the three generations of Hispanic terra sigillata of Los Villares de Andújar.
