Abstract :
Even though Marx brought to light the fetishism of commodity, i.e., the illusion that capitalistic accumulation is a relationship among things and not a social relationship among human producers, such an illusion still persists. Appealing to Marc Richir’s notion of simulacrum – the illusion of the phenomenon – will allow us to elucidate the tenor of this illusion. By unveiling its transcendental make-up, through its a priori phenomenological structures, we will then bring out the conditions of possibility for the financialization of the capitalistic economy, which is an extreme form of fetishism.
