Après quelques remarques sur le passage historique de l’exégèse théologique à l’exégèse scientifique profane, l’auteur se situe lui-même en distinguant entre l’approche critique, qui est la tâche exégétique proprement dite, et l’herméneutique, où s’introduit la théologie. Chez l’exégète croyant, les deux se trouvent finalement, à son avis, intimement et inséparablement mêlées. Ce qu’il montre en trois domaines de ses propres recherches: la lecture des évangiles, la quête du Jésus de l’histoire et la séparation du christianisme et du judaïsme. Having been invited to speak about his own experience of the relationship between exegesis and theology in New Testament work, the author begins with an affirmation: the exegete who is a believer 'is always on the verge of becoming a theologian'. After brief considerations concerning the historical passage from theological exegesis to secular scientific exegesis, he locates himself by distinguishing between scientific criticism, the exegetical task in the strict sense, and hermeneutics, where theology introduces itself. In the final analysis, he thinks that both approaches are intimately and inseparably combined in the work of the believer-exegete. This situation is then illustrated from three domains of his own research: the reading of the gospels, the quest for the Jesus of history, and the separation of Christianity and Judaism. |
