Upon examination of how the term is defined by diverse perspectives, there is evidence that the definitions are not in agreement. Though a foundational understanding of holiness and/or growth is present in many, the mechanisms of spiritual formation within the varied definitions are incongruent. This article will draw from the apostle Paul’s letter of 1 Thessalonians in an endeavor to define the term. Despite dissimilar perspectives, most agree that Paul can be an agreeable starting point. |
