Abstract :
We suggest for Qoh 11:7 the reading ומתוק האור לעינים וטוב לראות את־השמש 'And sweetness – it’s the light to the eyes, and good for seeing with sunlight', which can be paraphrased: 'sweetness brightens the eyes (invigorates them), which is advantageous for seeing when the sun is out'. The suggested minimal emendation for Qoh 11:7, exchange in the position of the two adjacent words וטוב and לעינים, results in a balanced and eminently meaningful verse. Its concrete sense, supported by 1 Sam 14:25-27, fits the context of the preceding verse, and both verses naturally belong to the larger Qoh 11:3-7 unit.
