Document Details : Title: Bronze Wheeled Stands in a New Ugaritic Text Author(s): ZUKERMAN, Alexander Journal: Revue Biblique Volume: 119 Issue: 4 Date: 2012 Pages: 481-497 DOI: 10.2143/RBI.119.4.3203548 Abstract : A new Ugaritic document, found in the House of Urtenu, mentions the amounts of copper and tin needed for the manufacture of forty wheeled stands. The present article uses relevant biblical and archaeological data to clarify the form and function of these stands. In addition, it discusses the implications of the document for the study of bronzeworking and of the connections between Ugarit and Cyprus during the Late Bronze Age. Un nouveau texte ugaritique, de la Maison d’Urtenu, énumère la quantité de cuivre et d’étain nécessaire à la fabrication de quarante supports à roulettes. L’article s’efforce d’éclairer la forme et la fonction de ces objets, à partir de données bibliques et archéologiques. De plus, on y débat des implications de ce texte pour l’étude du travail sur bronze et pour les liens entre Ugarit et Chypres au Bronze récent. |
