Document Details : Title: Bible Plants Used for Therapeutic Purposes in Latin America Author(s): MADALENO, Isabel Maria Journal: Revue Biblique Volume: 120 Issue: 4 Date: 2013 Pages: 491-510 DOI: 10.2143/RBI.120.4.3200351 Abstract : The paper lists twenty-three different bible plant species consumed for therapeutic purposes in Latin America, in our days, according to the Portuguese Tropical Research Institute fieldwork conducted in eight countries, during fourteen years. The identification of biblical taxa made use of the investigations of four known contemporary botanists. The aim is to establish whether religion has determined the preferences whilst comparing the applications of the medicinal flora in the Holy Land and in the New World. |
